Every year, many young people access the Internet to verify the Canadian student visa. Apparently they want to study in Canada. In order to study in Canada, you must basically obtain a Canadian study permit. In some cases where the duration of the course or study is less than 6 months, you will not necessarily need a study permit.
However, it is important to obtain this study permit before moving to Canada. The reason is; If you decide to continue your studies in another program, you must leave Canada and apply. I’m pretty sure you don’t want that stress.
Here’s the trick; If you have a Canadian study permit before moving to Canada and it expires during your stay, you can renew your permit within Canada. This really saves you a lot of stress and money, of course.
For those who are regularly enrolled full time at an accredited college, the study permit can help you work within your school. In addition, you can work off campus or even as an intern at a company related to your primary course of study. Most importantly, having a study permit can help you stay in Canada after your studies and apply for permanent residency.
Canadian Study Permit Application Procedure
Basically, there are two ways to apply for a Canadian study permit. One is applied online and the other is via a physical paper application. Instructions on how to do this are available on the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration website, CIC. The online application is super fast. The use of the card option requires approximately 2 times the duration of the online option.
If you choose to apply online (which is faster), you will need to have your credit / debit card ready for online payment. In addition, electronic copies of the required documents are required. The immigration office in your country will inform you of the necessary documents you will need. These document requirements vary by country.
How to get a Canadian student visa
Step 1. The first and most crucial if you wish to obtain a Canadian student visa is to obtain a formal acceptance letter from a recognized college in Canada. This does not end here for students who wish to study in Quebec. The government must issue an acceptance certificate to the student, also known as a CAQ. All of these requirements can be obtained online so you don’t sweat.
Step 2. After completing the above, the next step is to obtain the Canadian student visa application package. This can be obtained from the CIC website. Alternatively, it is not recommended that you visit a Canadian visa office or a Canadian embassy in your country to apply. The latter takes longer and may take a long time and consume energy.
Step 3. Some questions on biodata will be asked on the CIC website. These questions will let you know if you are eligible to apply. You must answer correctly to obtain the student visa application package. DO NOT enter incorrect information there. Make sure everything you enter is verifiable.
Step 4. When you see the result of the questions asked and you found yourself eligible, you will get a personal checklist code, valid for 60 days. This checklist code is what you will use when you submit your request online. Make sure you print the code page and have a printed copy of it for future reference. This page will also include a detailed application guide, an estimated registration fee, the list of crucial documents to be submitted.
Step 5. Create a MyCIC account when you are ready to apply. This is where you will enter the personal checklist code that was provided to you in step 4. Then you will receive your personal document checklist which will allow you to upload and send your documents to CIC. To do this you will need a printer or scanner.
Step 6. Here is where the request is sent to CIC. Before submitting, make sure all documents are ready and that you have paid your taxes too. If everything is checked, go ahead and send.
Step 7. This depends! Some candidates may be invited to an interview at the visa office in their country of residence.
After the application, what are the prospects?
If the application is approved, you will receive a cover letter (POE), while students from countries that require an electronic travel authorization (eTA) and / or a temporary residence visa will be issued if necessary. ETA will be linked to the passport. It is important to travel with the passport you used when applying for a study permit. The ETA will be valid for five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
Present them together with your passport, proof of your finances and your acceptance letter (and any other documents that you have been advised to bring) to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in Canada, which will then issue your Canadian study permit and allows you to access Canada.
I wish you all the best when you apply for a student visa in Canada. Remember, sharing is hot, share this post to enlighten others.
